Have you ever heard of Baby Yoda? He is the adorable character from Disney’s show the Mandalorian, the little guy who turned into an American cultural sensation (google “Baby Yoda,” and you’ll see what I mean).
Technically, as the show begins, the name of this creature is not Baby Yoda but simply The Child. While the first episodes don’t reveal much about him, we do know something—this child could change everything. There is some abnormal force within the child, something in its blood that has power to change things.
Hmm. That sounds familiar, doesn’t it? A child whose blood has the power to change things? The prophet Isaiah speaks of a similar child when he says, “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6).
b.c. believers sat on the edge of their seats, waiting for “the child” whose birth and blood would bring them peace with God.
If you’re looking for more peace this time of year, you don’t have to escape to cute fictional figures to find it. Open your Bible and read about the birth of Jesus, the Son born to us, to you. He is wonderful. He is mighty. He is God. He is the Prince of peace.
