Be ready

A friend had his car broken into the night before his wedding rehearsal. Among the items stolen was his briefcase. Inside it were 1) his marriage license, 2) his and his fiancée’s passports for the trip they were going on out of country, and 3) the wedding rings. There’s a feeling of vulnerability when someone steals something from you. Cybercrimes and identity theft are on the rise.

It should be no surprise that the last days are compared to a thief in the night. Most robberies don’t happen in the daylight but under the cloud of darkness. We don’t know when judgment day will come—we need to be ready.

“But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into” (Matthew 24:43).

God encourages us to be ready, vigilant, to have our hearts in tune with God and the security his Word provides. His Word is a lamp for us in these dark days of the world. Put on the armor of God that allows you to get through the struggles you face.

Security systems and car alarms are designed by humans and have flaws. God knows when judgment day is coming. With him there is no vulnerability. Just 100 percent assurance!
