My musical-loving daughter wrote letters to some famous Broadway actors and actresses. One day, a reply letter showed up in our mailbox from New York City. Guess who wrote it? The guy who played Alexander Hamilton himself in the smash hit Hamilton! Lin-Manuel Miranda, a stunningly gifted actor and writer, wrote my baby girl a personal letter, answering her questions, cracking a few jokes, and giving her a smile wider than a Broadway stage. No wonder she immediately framed the letter and set it on her bedroom dresser!

As happy as that letter made her, Brooklyn didn’t set that frame underneath her bedside lamp as the last thing she would see each night. Instead, that spot is occupied by a small wooden block that reads, “Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love” (Psalm 143:8). Every morning, as she turns off her alarm, that passage reminds her that unfailing love is hers through Jesus. She might not know what the future will hold, but she does know, in Jesus, that she will be loved.

That’s true for you too. Today might be a day when good news shows up in your mailbox (or inbox). Or it might be another bill or doctor’s appointment. But whatever is going on in your physical and financial life, your spiritual life is going to be okay. Why? Because every morning the gospel brings the good news that God’s love lasts forever.

Smile, Christian. You are loved. Now and forever.
