Some of the worst earthquakes in our world’s history have killed 200,000-300,000 people in each incident. The Bible says there was an earthquake when Jesus died, and then another earthquake when he rose to life.

“There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it” (Matthew 28:2).

The earth’s job is to hold people up when we’re alive and then to hold us in when we’re dead. However, it was forced to do the opposite to Jesus.

Roman soldiers sunk the bottom of a cross into the ground and crucified Jesus on it. The earth was holding Jesus up when he was dead. It convulsed at this moment. The innocent Son of God died!?

Jesus was buried in a tomb on Friday, and he came to life on Sunday. At that moment the earth was holding Jesus in when he was alive. It convulsed again. The living Son of God buried alive!?

These were the best earthquakes in history. These moments saved millions and millions of people because Jesus did the miraculous, the unearthly. He accomplished what normal and natural moments cannot.

The Bible says that Baptism connects believers to the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus (Romans 6:4). These moments save you from the natural instincts of sin, from physical limitations, and even death.

Earthshaking news!
