“You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light. With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall. As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him” (Psalm 18:28-30).
Do you ever read Scripture out loud as a conversation between you and the Lord? Try rereading the words from this psalm out loud right now.
If you’re just beginning your day, God bless you. If you’ve reached a hard point of your day, God bless you. If you’re at the end of the day and lying in bed perhaps exhausted or fearful as you contemplate tomorrow, God bless you.
Try reading these words out loud again.
Can you picture the Lord protecting the flame of his lamp and tipping it toward you to help you light your own lamp so that you can see in the darkness? Can you picture the Lord ready with his strong hands to help you vault over the wall that confronts you? Can you dwell in the assurance of these words: “As for God, his way is perfect”?
Slow your thoughts. Take time to breathe. Read these words again. Carry them into whatever challenge you’re facing. “As for God, his way is perfect: The Lord’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him.”
May you be blessed.
