Jesus once said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6).
The exclusivity of Jesus as the only Savior is a truth we are blessed to believe, but sometimes we forget it.
In fact, sometimes we’re tempted to treat Jesus as if he’s in our way. We grow enamored with our own opinion as truth. And the life that possesses our souls is this earthly life. But when Jesus isn’t our only way, our only truth, and our only life, then he isn’t our Savior.
Jesus brings you to the Father, who is so glad that you are no longer detoured or dead-ended by your lesser ways and who is so strong to forgive and bless. “I am the way,” he promises. He doesn’t just show you the way. Jesus is the way.
Jesus communicates with you in the Bible. He doesn’t demand that you resolve every problem. “I am the truth,” he promises. Make everything in your life a spiritual issue, and you will find the answers that you need.
Jesus makes you first place and gives you everything he has, even his life. In his dying and rising Jesus awakens you to a new life of your own dying to your sinful self and rising too. “I am the life,” Jesus promises.
If those who are troubled by the exclusivity of Jesus can observe him as the only Savior, they will be troubled no more.
