God is working

People, even people within our Christian circles, do destructive, harmful, secretive things. David expresses it well in Psalm 64:6: “They plot injustice and say, ‘We have devised a perfect plan!’ Surely the human mind and heart are cunning.”

When we run into those who are deceitful, we can feel angry, helpless, and tired out. What do we do? We can always bring these situations before the Lord and ask him to help us discern the next steps. Sometimes this includes acting decisively. Sometimes we must wait for the Lord.

One thing we know: God sees, he cares, and he will act in his time. In the language of Psalm 64, “God will shoot them with his arrows; they will suddenly be struck down” (verse 7).

So, even in the time of waiting, we can have confidence that God is working because he promises to do so. Here is one of those promises: Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).

So resting in God’s promises, we know that the words of Psalm 64:10 are true: The righteous will rejoice in the Lord and take refuge in him; all the upright in heart will glory in him!”

Imprint your promises on our hearts, Lord!
