
Chances are you will use some communication device today that was inspired by Steve Jobs, the founder and genius of Apple Inc. Most people have been a beneficiary of his gifted mind through technology in some way. At his passing, the news headlines stated, “He changed the world forever!”
The apostle Paul likely thought the same thing about Jesus as Paul sat imprisoned in Rome, penning letters to the early Christian church. Paul didn’t have an extravagant device to communicate with the young believers in Ephesus or Corinth or elsewhere. He had the power of the Word, given to him through the Holy Spirit, to share the most important information that anyone could receive—full and free salvation through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! That is not only world changing; that is eternity changing.
Steve Jobs created and invented helpful and life-changing gadgets, the likes and complexity of which most of us cannot even fathom. But in his prayer in Ephesians 3:20,21, Paul sums up credit and glory to God for the more far-reaching importance of what Jesus did:
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
Jesus Christ—He truly changed the world forever.
