I want you to feel better at the end of this devotion. It will all be okay. God is in control. And you are a link in the chain of people who will make it okay. You have some declaring to do. You can cut this page out or write something yourself and send it to your pastors, elected officials, or anyone who is also a link in the chain. They have responsibilities. They get paid to do things in our behalf. Representative leaders make it okay when they put their thinking caps on and agree to do things God would like.
I won’t judge you if you kick back in your recliner and pray for someone else to do something. I do it myself. But sometimes I try to influence events like I am trying to right now. What does it mean to be salt and light or yeast that leavens the whole doughy mess? So I’ve sent emails to officeholders and newspaper editors and had lunches with pastors because they are responsible for the messes in church and state. They work for you because “you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” (1 Peter 2:9). So if you want to feel better, praise God by declaring what he expects from those who serve you.
