Jewish people have suffered from anti-Semitism for thousands of years. Satan must have a bitter and permanent grudge against the nation that gave the world the Savior, the Champion who crushed his demonic serpent head. The world owes Jewish people an enormous debt of gratitude in that Jesus Christ was born a Jew, just as the Scriptures said he would be.
Christians have even more reason to appreciate Jewish people: “What advantage, then, is there in being a Jew, or what value is there in circumcision? Much in every way! First of all, they have been entrusted with the very words of God” (Romans 3:1,2). Almost every word of the Bible was written by a Jewish person, both Old and New Testaments. They alone were the guardians of the Word of God when the rest of the world had sunk into heathenism or no religion at all. In spite of their own spiritual ups and downs, the Israelites always had a faithful core that kept the faith and preserved the hope and promises of the gospel.
Almost everyone in the first generation of New Testament Christians was Jewish—they were the first evangelists and teachers. In Romans chapter 11, St. Paul calls them a sturdy olive tree trunk and root system that now support and nourish Gentile branches grafted on.
The children of Abraham deserve our appreciation and respect.
