You’ve probably heard of faith healers. They come around, demand money, and make the promise of healing you. If they can’t heal you, it’s your fault because you didn’t have enough faith. Can you see where I’m going with this? It’s a scam! Nowhere has God promised to give people the supernatural ability to heal! He could, but he doesn’t promise it. So does that mean he’s not in the healing business?

Not at all! In fact, I would submit to you that you have likely been healed as many times as anyone in the Bible! How can I say that? Because of the incredible way that God made you. He gave you an immune system that “heals itself” over and over, many times not even registering with your brain that you even got sick! Is that healing not from God? It certainly is!

Here’s where it’s good to have the humility of Galen. Galen was the most famous doctor of antiquity next to Hippocrates. He said, “I bound his wounds, but God healed him.” Isn’t that the truth? Jesus is still in the healing business. Feeling a cold coming on? Chances are by next month, Jesus will have healed you. Cancer not going away but getting worse? In a big sense, then even better—God has chosen you to soon join him in the place where there is no more sickness!

“Jesus healed many who had various diseases” (Mark 1:34).
