Imagination is on the decline. With the rise of TV watching and the decline of book reading, you don’t need to imagine anymore. Someone will show you how to picture it! I still remember growing up and imagining myself on a professional basketball floor playing with and outshining the greats. . . . It never happened, but it was fun to imagine!
Imagine what you would like most in life. Go ahead and come up with a list. Perhaps health, love of family, wealth, or respect made your list. Those are great, but now dream bigger! Imagine a life of total peace. Imagine your life with no regrets and no blemishes. Imagine your life as a journey to the best vacation of all time. You don’t have to imagine. You have those and so much more!
Just try to wrap your mind around the love of Jesus that went to the cross for you—total peace! Because of that you now live in a state of constant forgiveness—no blemishes! Now look up to the sky. That billion-star resort awaits you—best vacation of all time!
If you think that’s good, Jesus can and does do even more than you can imagine. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine . . .” (Ephesians 3:20). Maybe I will never “shine” on the basketball court, but because of the wonders that Jesus has performed and still performs each day for me, I shine through him.
