Part of the puzzle

Back when my kids were younger, we had a Star Wars lenticular puzzle. Have you seen those? They have a 3-D holographic thing going on. Each puzzle piece had shades of red, yellow, and black, depending on which way you held it, so they all looked the same. What made it worse was that each piece was the same shape. We finally threw it away.

It’s frustrating when everything looks exactly the same.

This is why God created his church with all sorts of unique pieces. My gifts and talents (my colors and shape, if you will) are different from yours. So what if you don’t write devotions? I can’t build a building to his glory—because it would fall down! I wouldn’t do so great as a surgeon or a welder or a math teacher either! And that is the beauty of his design. All of God’s children—his puzzle pieces—are colorful and unique on their own—and he put them together exactly how he wanted them to be.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully” (Romans 12:6-8).

Use your God-given gifts to his glory!
