Sometimes you might think you’ll never see or feel anything good again. The pain of losing a loved one can be difficult to recover from. So can the struggles that come with addiction. Maybe you’ve gone through a stretch where you’ve lost so much and haven’t gained anything.
But with God, good things can happen even when we think they can’t.
Moses and the Israelites sang a song of praise to God for opening a way to freedom that they never saw coming: “The Lord is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation. He is my God, and I will praise him, my father’s God, and I will exalt him. The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name. Pharoah’s chariots and his army he has hurled into the sea” (Exodus 15:2-4).
God showed them he was fighting for them when he divided the waters of the Red Sea, allowing them to walk to safety before bringing the waters together again to destroy the enemy that was pursuing them.
You may never be caught between an army and a large body of water, but the same God who delivered Israel has already provided a way to a greater Promised Land. Through Jesus, God has guaranteed that your enemies of sin and death won’t keep you from him in heaven.
Maybe you have days when it doesn’t feel like you’re on your way there, but that doesn’t mean you’re not. In fact, because of Jesus, you are.
