When did you last contemplate the blessings you’ve received from God? Have you thought about it like this psalmist? “Surely you have granted him unending blessings and made him glad with the joy of your presence. For the king trusts in the Lord; through the unfailing love of the Most High he will not be shaken” (Psalm 21:6,7).
Do you realize that God’s face is turned toward you with love and attention? His blessing is present even when you forget or turn your attention away.
As followers of Jesus, we are conduits of God’s blessings to other people. When I forget that I am blessed, I may wound people rather than bless them. This makes life so hard for those around me! At such times I’m wronging them in a twofold sense. I rob them of the joy God intends them to experience, and I’m not extending additional blessing to them as followers of Christ.
I desire to live a life of peace flowing from God’s deep love and blessing. I want to contribute to this blessing in the lives of others. When we live in God’s peace, we are not shaken, even when the world around us is rocked to its core.
Holy Spirit, I’ve been blessed eternally. Bathe me in an awareness of the blessing and love I receive from you. Assist me as I try to remember my own blessedness and try to bless others. Help me be more consistent. Let me grow and reflect your light so that blessing shines out from me to others. Amen.
