Teachers from hell

The digital revolution has brought enormous good to our world, but like every technological advance, it’s brought bad things too. We can get news from around the world instantly, right as things are happening, with pictures, video, and comments, but we know that our devices are also awash in fake news. We can’t always tell which is which. Just because information is on Twitter or YouTube or Facebook doesn’t make it true.

Satan knows that the battlefield on which he hopes to win control of the human race is in our minds. And so he puts considerable thought and energy into spreading fake news about God. It’s not a physical battle, with physical weapons against an enemy you can see. It is spiritual warfare. Satan’s demon agents work just like spies, spreading disinformation: “The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons” (1 Timothy 4:1). Teachers from hell!

How can mere mortals like you and me ever know the truth? How can we resist Satan himself? Realize that not every religious organization can be trusted—some are peddling a fake gospel. We have only one source of absolutely reliable information, and that is Holy Scripture. The Bible is able to make you wise for salvation. Hold onto it with a death grip! Read it! Listen to it! Believe it!

When you do, you will send the demons howling back to hell.
