What’s troubling your heart today? Is it a particular thing that you did wrong long ago, but it’s not long forgotten? Is it a temptation that’s currently nagging at you, tripping you up time after time? Is it a health, job, or financial situation? Listen to the words of your Savior:
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. . . . My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am” (John 14:1-3).
Jesus says, “Do not let your heart be troubled.” Why not? Because there is a place for you in heaven! You may protest, “But that’s just pie-in-the-sky thinking. I have to live in the here and now!” True. But who’s with you right now? The same Jesus who told his disciples not to let their hearts be troubled is the same Jesus who is with you. He is the One who died for you, rose for you, and even now is preparing a home for you in heaven.
No, that doesn’t mean this life will be easy, pleasant, or even successful outwardly. It does mean you know where you’re going. It means you know where your life will end up, at Jesus’ side in heaven. No more troubles, forever!
