Things will be better

“The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid. . . . He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him’” (Matthew 28:5,7).

When the women left the tomb that Easter morning, they hadn’t seen Jesus with their eyes. In other words, they lived by faith. They left the tomb believing the promise the angel gave them.

Galilee was almost a hundred miles from where they were that day, but do you know when they actually saw Jesus? About ten seconds later Jesus appeared to them. I bet that was a nice surprise! They moved forward in faith, and the reality that God gave them turned out to be better than they were expecting.

And your reality will be too. I’m sure you’ve thought about what it will be like to be in heaven, what it might feel like to never hurt or feel weak again. I’m sure you’ve thought about what it will feel like to hug your loved ones when you see them again. Those are happy thoughts. But the reality will be far better than you could ever imagine. God doesn’t tell us when we’ll see these things. I know that sometimes it seems we’re still a hundred miles away. He only promises that we will see them.

So don’t be afraid of whatever in life is making it hard to wait for things to be better. The risen Jesus is proof that your wait will be worth it!
