Upgraded wardrobe

If you look at a calendar in August or January, you won’t see it like you do other major holidays, but the first day of school is dubbed “Wear Your New Clothes” day. Flashback to my eighth-grade year when a friend asked me, “Hey, are those a new pair of corduroy jeans?” My answer, “Why no they’re not.” His response: “Oh, because I see the sales tag and sizing sticker are still attached to the back of your pant leg.” Gulp! Embarrassed or not, there’s pride/confidence in showing off the new kicks, flat brim hat, jersey, or jeans.

This same confidence can be said of the new threads you wear spiritually. Jesus gave you an upgrade in your wardrobe. “I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness” (Isaiah 61:10).

This wasn’t always the case. By nature, we’re soiled in sin. But God in his mercy clothes us in his Son’s robe of righteousness (we’re holy and sinless because of Jesus!). It’s a robe we didn’t earn. One drop of Jesus’ blood is the ultimate stain cleanser. Total forgiveness. We’re not covered in designer clothes that go out of style or are later sold online. We have divine clothes from the ultimate fashion/creation designer, God himself.

On the first day of school, work, or week, walk with confidence in what you wear!
