What will I look like?

Do you remember when you were a child and saw a present under the Christmas tree and tried to figure out what was in it? You could take some guesses based on the box’s size and shape, but finally you didn’t know until you opened the gift. But even before you opened it, you knew one thing: it would be good! How? Because the gift came from someone who loved you.

We know some of God’s gifts, like forgiveness and peace, but others we’ll have to wait until the Last Day to realize fully. “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power” (1 Corinthians 15:42,43).

God is referring to the bodies we will have when he raises us from the dead. What will those bodies be like? They will be “imperishable,” “in glory,” and “in power.” What does that mean? Frankly, I don’t know. I haven’t experienced a glorified body. It’s like that wrapped present under the Christmas tree.

You can know this for sure though: it WILL be good! You can know that because your resurrected body comes from someone who loves you dearly. It comes from your God who loved you to death on a cross. That truth helps you trust God’s plan for each day.
