You are significant

There are plenty of things in life that leave you feeling insignificant. It could be something complicated like losing out on a promotion, or it could be as simple as someone not replying to your text message right away.

Think of the last time you were feeling insignificant. What caused it, and what did that feeling lead you to do?

The Bible tells the story of a man who dared to believe he was significant to God, even though he was insignificant to the world around him.

The man’s name was Bartimaeus. He was blind, and because of that, he was a beggar. He had nothing to offer the world around him. In fact, he depended on others’ generosity to survive.

But one day a crowd was passing by, and I’ll let Mark tell the story from there: When [Bartimaeus] heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, ‘Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!’ Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, ‘Son of David, have mercy on me!’” (Mark 10:47,48).

Bartimaeus may have been blind, but he could see he was significant to God. He believed that vying for Jesus’ attention was better than winning the approval of the crowd.

What if you could do the same? Plenty of things in life can leave you feeling forgotten and insignificant. Dare to live as if you are significant to God. Because in Jesus, you are.
