The incarnation of Jesus is the centerpiece of human history for many reasons. God taking on human flesh sends a powerful message of how valuable we are to our estranged Father, the lengths to which he would go to win us back. It honors our humanity that Christ now shares it and kept it via his ascension! Through his human body Christ lived for us, suffered for us, died for us, and rose again for
Through his humanity Christ also leads the way in how to live triumphantly in a broken and fallen world. He demonstrated how to overcome in adversity: “Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart” (Hebrews 12:3). For example: he showed the value and power of prayer as he chose to spend time alone with his Father and dial into his will. He respected human authority even when it was wrong and abusive. He submitted rather than retaliating. He forgave rather than seeking revenge. He loved instead of hating. He stayed focused on what was important rather than becoming distracted by comforts, vanities, and pleasures.
Here is Scripture’s promise for you: the more you read the four gospels and absorb Jesus’ ways and words, the better-equipped you will be to follow in his steps . . . the more clearly you will understand your life’s mission . . . the happier and more content you will be.
Hang on. You’ll make it.
