Many people who love Jesus love to quote Romans 8:28: And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. I mean, why wouldn’t we love words that bring so much comfort and peace and remind us that God is working for us. Sometimes, though, we might need just a little more encouragement. That’s why we should keep on reading verses 29 and 30 too—slowly and with a little explanation. (After all, some of these are churchy words; it’s easy to gloss over them.)

“For those God foreknew he also predestined”He determined to do whatever it would take to get you close to him.

“to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters”Because of Jesus’ payment for sins, your status is transformed and you are now God’s child.

“And those he predestined, he also called”—He chose you and made sure that you would be found and belong to him forever.

“those he called, he also justified”You are no longer God’s enemy, but instead he sees you as being holy and set apart.

those he justified, he also glorified.—All blessings from Jesus are poured onto you. Your victory is so certain; your place is prepared. You get to radiate his glory to everyone around you.

Well, that’s even better news!
