God’s love never changes

By Pastor Clark Schultz

The mother with the grocery list said, “Do you want to stay in the car with Dad?”

The child yelled, “No! Yes! Wait! No! OK, I’ll go into the store with you, Mom.”

The father was dumbfounded that in 3.2 seconds the child changed his mind so many times so quickly.

Change … Our world is ever changing; smartphones, cars, clothing trends, and hairstyles all change. To some, change is frightening. “We’ve always done it that way” becomes our mantra to stop change.

Change can be good. New clothes, new worship music, and a new coat of paint all have their places.

I get through tough times like tax season, holding the hand of someone who is about to meet Jesus, or hugging someone who is at the end of their rope with this: our Father does not change. Now that’s comforting!

“God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?” (Numbers 23:19).

Our world can change drastically, but God’s love for us will not. Nothing you do will make God love you more, and nothing you do will make God love you less.
