I am one of over 14 million people who suffer from some form of autoimmune disease. If you add those who suffer from the thousands of other diseases and disorders, there are few left untouched by chronic illness.

However, there’s one fatal disease we all have in common—it’s called sin. Every person experiences variations of hate, sadness, conflict, intolerance, illness, disregard, brutality, and overindulgence, and all of it ends in death. We adopt various lifestyles, choose the latest health fads, chase down scientific studies, and enact societal laws to pursue a paradise lost on the earth.

“Nevertheless, I will bring health and healing to it; I will heal my people and will let them enjoy abundant peace and security” (Jeremiah 33:6).

Out of love, God promised to send the cure while we were still sinning against him. His Son, Jesus, willingly laid aside his immortality for a mortal life lived in perfect obedience for us. He fulfilled all the Old Testament prophecies predicting his coming rescue for humankind. He took the sin of all humanity upon himself. He destroyed the power of the grave by walking out of his.

Our hope for all that is broken and dying is found in only one cure, Jesus. May we triage people’s sickness of sin with his Spirit-driven, love-joy-peace-patience-kindness-goodness-faithfulness-gentleness-self-control Good News medicine!
