Fiercely dependent

One way I would describe myself is that I’m fiercely independent. Fiercely. Independent.

I know it doesn’t make sense to all the women out there, but it’s to the point where I’ll search a store for a good 30 minutes to find what I’m looking for before I’ll ask for help. And don’t even ask me if I use the directions provided for things that “require some assembly.”

Maybe you aren’t as fiercely independent as I am, but what I do know is that most people only ask for help when they need it.

So as I was reading through Psalm 119, one of the verses jumped out at me. See if it jumps out at you too. Read it a few times if needed: “I rise before dawn and cry for help; I have put my hope in your word” (verse 147).

What stood out to me were two words: Before dawn. Before the day even started, this psalmist was crying out to God for help. Well before the help was needed, the cry for help went out. How amazing is that?

What do you need God’s help for today? Be fiercely dependent on him. The crazy thing with God is that he loves it when you ask for help before you need it. Ask for his blessing on your day. Pray for his presence before you need it. You already have his word that he will work out all things for your good.
