Care to the last detail

By Pastor Dave Scharf

His baby was sick. In fact, she was dying. Those of you who have gone through something like this know there is no greater pain. You would do anything and everything to help your child. Jairus, the synagogue ruler, knew where to go. He approached Jesus through the crowd and cried out, “Hurry! My little girl is dying! You have to come.” So Jesus went. Jairus’ daughter was already dead, but that didn’t stop Jesus. “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” (Mark 5:41). And she did! As incredible as that is, I want to focus on a different aspect of the story. It’s what happened after.

After raising Jairus’ daughter from the dead, the Bible includes the most beautiful little line: Jesus told them “to give her something to eat” (Mark 5:43). Isn’t that beautiful? Don’t you think her parents knew to feed their daughter? Of course, but Jesus wanted to ensure she had EVERYTHING she needed.

Jesus cares for you down to the last detail. Do you feel like there are some things too small for his attention? Your Savior, who hung on a cross to win salvation for the world but also just for you, is not just concerned with the “big things” or the “important people.” The one nobody notices, Jesus notices in the least detail. What a comfort. He cares for you down to the last detail!
